KARACHI Oct 13 (TNS): A woman on Friday has allegedly been stabbed with a sharp-edged tool in Hyderi neighbourhood of the metropolis after a brief suspension in a spate of knife assaults.

The alleged attack has been carried out near Al-Fatah park of Hyderi area. The victim has been identified as Shehrina w/o Ghulam Asghar.

The immediate relatives of the victim have approached concerned police station in Hyderi to register an FIR. However, the police claimed that the woman received an injury as a motorcycle hit her while denying possibility of a knife-attack.

According to police account, the lady was hit by a motorcycle around 8:30am in the morning, receiving a minor injury. The woman thought to have been attacked by knife-man but it was merely a road accident, claimed police.

On the flip side, the fear persistently gripped citizens in the city as the knife-wielding suspect still believed to be at large.

The mystery still surrounds the motive behind the knife assaults on women, besides the number of attackers involved in the assaults

Last week, the ongoing hunt for the knifeman – who has so far stabbed over a dozen women in Karachi – was handed over to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), police sources informed media.

Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah then claimed a major clue had been found in connection with Karachi knife attacks. “The police is investigating to get to the core of the matter,” he claimed, adding that police had number of reasons to believe that at least two suspects were involved in the attacks.

As many as 15 women were stabbed in a span of two weeks in Gulshan Town of the city. Most of these victims came under attacks in Gulistan-e-Johar and adjacent areas.

The Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) are still clueless about the motive behind these attacks and the prime suspect.

So far, the authorities’ claims of making key arrests had fallen flat.
