Islamabad, Oct 16 (TNS): Minister for National Food Security Sikandar Hayat Bosan has stressed the need for investing in rural development to control the rural-urban migration and ensure sustainable agriculture growth.
Addressing a seminar held in Islamabad on Monday to commemorate the World Food Day, he said the increasing trend of rural urban migration is also creating deficiency of skilled manpower.
The Minister said the government is promoting crop diversification, value addition, agricultural mechanization and establishment of small and medium development projects in agribusiness for uplift of agriculture-sector and rural economy.
He said the government has initiated several measures to introduce cost-effective agriculture by providing tax exemption on the import of agri-machinery and pesticides.
