LAHORE, Oct 20 (TNS): A woman gave birth in front of Medical Superintendent’s office in Ganga Ram hospital on Friday after she was refused entry by the staff.

Despite Punjab government’s claims of improving medical facilities in hospitals, women are forced to give birth outside the hospitals as this is the second such incident this week.

Three days back, a woman in Raiwind gave birth outside the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) after the staff refused to treat her.

Sameera Bibi was experiencing labour pains at the time of entry and no doctors were available in the hospital on duty, following which she eventually had to give birth in front of the hospital gate during morning hours.

A committee was formed to probe the matter and a report was presented to Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In a series of tweets, he pointed out the negligence of Raiwind hospital staff, doctors and paramedical members and said that strict action has been taken against all those responsible.
