ISLAMABAD Oct 21 (TNS):  Nearly 3, 75,000 aspiring students collected prospectuses from Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) for taking admissions in Autumn, 2017’s semester in different academic programs.

This is the record prospectuses’ sale as compared to last year’s figure that was about 3, 60,000. According to the available sale’s position the students’ interest in the new admission was showing upward trend. All those collected the prospectuses were the new comers.

The ratio of fresh students taking admission is highly encouraging, said Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while presiding over a meeting held here to review the admission’s process. It also reflected the trust of the people in the University’s learning system that was further improved through smart use of new technology during the last three years, he added.

There was overwhelming rush of aspiring students in the recent days at the University’s main campus and the 44 regional offices across the country seeking admissions. Keeping in view the students’ interest, the Vice Chancellor twice extended the last date of admission.

According to the Director Admissions Syed Ziaul Hussnain Navi, now the last date for the admissions with late fee is October 23. There will be no further extension. Special measures have been taken for facilitating the students in the admission process.

Recently, the University also introduced online admission and the admission forms and prospectuses were made available at the University’s website.
