PESHAWAR, Oct 23 (TNS):The district government has decided to start a special tree plantation campaign in public sector schools to inform and educate masses about an importance of forests and their positive role in our lives.
This was decided during a high-level meeting presided over by District Nazim, Arbab Asim Khan that was attended by Executive District Education Officers Male and Female besides principals of the schools here.
District Nazim, Asim Khan directed the principals to submit details of their plants requirements within three days besides completing other necessary requirements including digging of holes and fixation of staff for looking after plants in this regard.
It was decided that special plantation campaigns would commence from next week in all girls government schools for boys and girls in Peshawar for which all arrangements was being completed.
The District Nazim said environmental pollution and climate change was a major problem that could only be addressed through maximum plantation and raising of forests.
He said this endeavor would immensely help appraise students about importance of forestry and positive role of forests in socio-economic development of Pakistan.
The District Nazim said that if every person plant at least five in year one billion plants would be raised vital to offset growing effects of the challenge of global warming and climate change.
