Karachi, Oct. 23 (TNS): PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari described Memon’s arrest as hypocrisy, asserting there the standards of law were different for the PPP leader against those for the Sharif family.

Sharjeel Inam Memon, former information minister of Sindh and close aide of Asif Ali Zadari, was arrested in a multibillion-rupee corruption case from outside the Sindh High Court on Monday evening.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took to micro-blogging website to express his anger over the development.

“One land two laws. One for Sharifs and another for @sharjeelinam #NAB #hypocrisy”, Bilawal twitted.

Memon, along with former provincial information secretary Zulfiqar Shalwani and others, is facing a NAB case involving financial corruption to the tune of Rs6 billion.

Earlier in the day, Memon and co-accused appeared before the SHC bench and requested for bail extension but the chief justice turned down their pleas.

The PPP leader, who returned to Pakistan from self-imposed exile in March this year, obtained protective bail in April in connection with an inquiry initiated by the top graft buster.
