Would present Interim report of attack on a scribe in three days: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD,Oct 29 (TNS): Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said the police and local administration would present an interim report the attack on senior reporter Ahmed Noorani of English daily ‘The News’ within three days.

Chief Commissioner and inspector general Islamabad are a part of an investigation committee which has been formed upon on the orders of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

Talking to media on Saturday, Iqbal strongly condemned the attack on Noorani and said the attackers would be arrested and punished according to law.

The minister further said the government had pledged to make the federal capital a peaceful and secure city, adding measures would be taken to stop untoward incidents in the city in future.

Noorani, who was assaulted on Khayabane Suharwardy road on Friday, is currently admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Islamabad.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah visited the journalist in the hospital and strongly condemned the assault.
