Three day anti-polio drive begins countrywide

ISLAMABAD OCT 30 (TNS): A three-day anti-polio campaign began across the country today.

Children up to five years of age are being administered anti-polio drops during the campaign.

It began in twelve districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and nineteen districts of Balochistan. The districts include Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank and D.I.Khan. About four point seven million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign.

Three-day anti-polio drive in nineteen districts of Balochistan also started. According to Provincial Coordinator Polio Emergency Operation Centre, one point eight million children up to five year of age will be vaccinated against polio in Balochistan province. Foolproof security measures have been taken to ensure security of Polio teams.

Five days anti-polio drive commenced in Karachi today. The campaign will be held in one hundred and sixty two Union Councils of the city. During the campaign over 1.7 million children will be administered anti-polio drops. Seven thousand polio workers will perform duty during the drive.

In Punjab, anti-polio drive began in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Bhakkar, Sheikhupura, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Mianwali districts.

During the campaign over seven point two six million children will be administered anti-polio drops.
