LAHORE Nov 06 (TNS): One person was killed while over 15 were injured, including students en route to school, in accidents as commuters are having harrowing times manoeuvring their vehicles on smog-hit roads in different parts of Punjab.

In Pindi Bhattian tehsil of Hafizabad district, a speeding car plunged into a drain. Subsequently, one person was killed while another was injured.

On Kala Bagh Road in Mianwali, a school van and truck collided due to low visibility, according to rescue sources. The accident left many schoolchildren injured.

A van hit a tree in Muslim Kot, Bhakkar, leaving three injured, rescue sources said. The same number of people was injured when a truck hit a van in Chichawatni.

Five, including two children, were injured when two motorbikes collided in Jahanian, Khanewal.

Besides road accidents, the supply of electricity to many areas has been affected as power lines have been tripping due to dense smog.

Due to various power plants being shut down, there is a likelihood of load-shedding increasing in the country.

An emergency plan will be put into action to deal with the issues faced by power division, added a statement released by the power division.

Residents of various parts of Punjab continue to face health and commutation problems as smog engulfs most parts of the province, including province’s capital Lahore.
