KABUL Nov 07 (TNS): A private television station in the Afghan capital of Kabul was attacked on Tuesday by gunmen who entered the building after an explosion, a staff member who witnessed the attack said.

There was no immediate indication of casualties or the identity of the attackers.

Witnesses say the attackers threw grenades and fired guns as they entered the Shamshad TV headquarters, according to the media reports.

A reporter who managed to escape told the attackers were still inside the building with gunfire being heard.

More than 100 employees are thought to be inside.

“Some of my colleagues were killed and injured. I managed to escape,” Hashmat Istankzai, a reporter for Shamshad TV, told.

This is a developing story and will be updated as reports come in.
