LAHORE, Nov 9 (TNS): Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday asserted that the biggest hurdle impeding the development of the country is corruption and lack of fair accountability system.
Talking to media persons at during his visit to Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum on 140th birth anniversary of the poet philosopher, Shahbaz Sharif said we have to review what steps have been taken to stop corruption till now,” he said. Punjab CM maintained that corruption worth billions of rupees has been done in the country and everyone knows who is behind it.
He said that Iqbal’s poetry and ideas also serve as guidance in the present era. “It is still questionable today how much have we followed Iqbal’s sayings. We are plunging even today despite existence of Iqbal’s thoughts and ideas,” said the CM.
Earlier Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with Corps Commander Lt Gen Aamer Riaz laid floral wreaths at the Mausoleum of the great philosopher. Separately, Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana also visited the mausoleum. He offered Fateha and laid floral wreath at the tomb.
