Pakistan can be gateway to Central Asia for oil and energy trade: Haroon Khan

Islamabad, Nov. 14 (TNS): Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Khan has said that Pakistan can be gateway to Central Asia for oil and energy trade.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the 8th Meeting of Economic Cooperation Organization in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Haroon Akhtar Khan said Pakistan holds a very important strategic position on the world map due to its proximity to China, Russia and India.

He said ECO countries together form a geo-politically important block and offer connectivity to various regions.

Haroon Khan said the share of ECO countries in the global trade is almost two percent as against its population of 6.2 percent in the world population.

He called for simplification of Customs procedures for ease of trade and enabling the economic integration of ECO members to promote regional trade.

Haroon Khan also offered ECO countries training facilities in all the relevant areas of Customs cooperation.
