Islamabad, Nov. 18 (TNS): Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has appealed to Ulema to play their role in ending the sit-in by a religious party in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, a delegation of protesters was in talks with the government.

The government delegation is being led by Senator Raja Zafarul Haq, whereas protesters are being headed by Pir Afzal Qadri.

All educational institutes and commercial activities remained suspended in the area on suspicion of an expected crackdown on the protesters.

“We do not want any bloodshed in the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh),” said the interior minister.

According to a statement, the Interior Minister directed the Islamabad administration to postpone the operation against protesters for next twenty-four hours.

He said the passage of the bill regarding finality of Prophethood is a historic achievement of the parliament and no one can alter this till the Day of Judgment.

He said after the passage of the bill, there is no justification for any sit-in.
