Young Kashir commander Adil Rashid martyred in clash with Indian forces in IOK

Srinagar, Nov. 20 (TNS): Hizbul Mujahideen freedom fighter Adil Rashid Chopan was martyred in a brief shootout at Gulshanpora Gujjarbasti area of Tral town in South Kashmir’s Puwama district on Monday.

According to the Indian police, Adil was martyred after a group of freedom fighters reportedly fired at a police patrolling party. Indian security forces launched a search operation, followed by an exchange of fire, in which the militant was killed.

Indian Defense spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia confirmed the death of Adil. “The combing operation was launched to track down the militants,” he said.

After Adil’s death news reached in the town, the youth in different areas took to roads to protest against Indian oppression and pelted stones on the Indian forces. Clashes also erupted in different areas of the town including Larow, Batagund, Gulshanpora and Lurgam.

Adil Rashid, a resident of Larow village of Tral town of Puwama in South Kashmir was a teenager who had suffered injuries in Saimoh encounter but had managed to flee from the encounter spot after people rushed to help him escape.
