Kabul, Nov. 21 (TNS): Officials for Chinese ministry of foreign affairs say China is making effort to improve relations between Kabul and Islamabad as better relations between the two countries can help boost economic development in the region, Afghan media reported on Tuesday.
Director of Asian Affairs for Chinese ministry of foreign affairs in a news conference in Beijing said: “China is fully supporting cooperation group between Afghanistan and Pakistan.” He said that China would soon host a tripartite session in Beijing.
Pointing to China’s efforts towards implementation of big projects in the region, Chinese director for Asian Affairs said China was working for further participation in regional development; therefore, his country was supporting peace negotiations led by Afghans and wanted improvement of relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He asserted that Afghanistan issue was complicated and following the accusation policy on each other would neither resolve current tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan nor help improvement of relations between the two countries.
Afghan political experts believe China has close political and economic relations with Pakistan and can play vital role in improvement of relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Amid tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, world and regional countries in particular China are trying to ease the tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan and asked that both countries should resolve their issues through dialogues and diplomatic channels.
A number of members of Afghanistan parliament say current tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan can put negative impacts on stability in the region.
