DHAKA, Nov 22 (TNS): Pakistani recruit of Comilla Victorians and the captain of Dhaka Dynamite’s Shakib Al Hasan were penalised on Tuesday for breaching Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB’s) code of conduct during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Ali was fined 25 per cent of the match fees, played at Sher e Bnaga stadium on Nov 20, after he was found guilty of breaching Article 2.1.7 of the BCB which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his dismissal during a match”. In addition to the fine, two demerit points have been added to Ali’s disciplinary record.

Shakib too was fined 50 per cent of the fee of same match for his offensive reaction to an LBW appeal that was being turned down by the umpire. He was penalised under Article 2.2.4 of the BCB code of conduct which relates to “using language or gesture(s) that is seriously obscene, seriously offensive or of a seriously insulting nature to another player, player support personnel, umpire, match referee or any other third person during a match”. In addition to the fine, three demerit points have been added to Shakib’s disciplinary record.

Hasan Ali stunned his fans in Bangladesh as he took five wickets for just 20 runs in his first match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The number one ranked One Day International (ODI) bowler became only the second after Bangladesh’s Rubel Hossain to have bowled five batsmen out in a single Twenty20 game.
