Huriyat leader urges human rights bodies for release of Kashmiri prisoners

Srinagar, Nov. 22 (TNS): Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, on Wednesday appealed to Amnesty International, Asia Watch and other international human rights organizations to use their influence for immediate release of Kashmiri prisoners from Indian jails.

In a statement in Srinagar, he expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of illegally detained senior resistance leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, in Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail.

Syed Ali Gilani said Shabbir Ahmed Shah is being subjected to political vendetta and kept deprived of medical treatment despite the fact that he is suffering from multiple ailments.

He deplored that other Kashmiri detainees are also being subjected to ill-treatment in Tihar Jail.

Meanwhile, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, have martyred one more youth during the ongoing massive violent military operation in Gujarpati and Zurhama areas of Kupwara district.

An Indian soldier was also killed in an attack in Keran area of the district, today. On the other hand, complete shutdown continued for the second consecutive day, today, in Tral and its adjacent areas of Pulwama district to protest the killing of a youth, Adil Ahmad Chopan.

All shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the road.
