Ahsan directs for formation of special police force to deal with protests

ISLAMABAD Nov 28 (TNS): Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal says some forces are working to halt China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project which is a gift for the country.

Talking to a private news channel, he said Faizabad protest sit-in, has portrayed bad image of the country and this practice should be stopped in future.

To a question he said that the issue of sit-in has been resolved through combined efforts of civil and military institutions.

The Minister said we all are Muslims and strongly believe in Khatam-e-Nabuwat.

He said that it is the responsibility of the religious parties to show the true picture of Islam which teaches love, tolerance and harmony.

He urged the media to play a positive role and avoid publishing or airing news without verification.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has constituted a three-member committee to review sit-in operation at Faizabad.

The committee, led by the Secretary Interior will analyze whether or not there was any improvement in police capabilities in handling the sit-ins since 2014.

The Minister has suggested that a special team, comprising one thousand police officers, should also be formed immediately to deal with protests and sit-ins.
