Economic interests of Pakistan fully considered in development of Gwadar: China

BEIJING Nov 28 (TNS): The Chinese Company developing the Gwadar Port and the Gwadar Free Zone has said it has fully considered the economic interests of Pakistan in the projects.

According to Chinese newspaper Global Times an official of the China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC) said that the company also agreed to turn over nine percent of the revenue from the Gwadar Port as well as 15 percent of the revenues from the Gwadar Free Zone to Pakistan.

He strongly rejects the media reports that 91 percent of the revenue of the Gwadar Port, which is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) belongs to China.

The official said that China Overseas Ports Holding Company has invested a huge amount of two hundred seventy million dollars since taking over the command of the Gwadar Port and Gwadar Free Zone.
