Vintage car rally organizer meets Mayor Karachi

KARACHI Nov 29 (TNS): Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said the participants of the 8th Vintage & Classic Car Rally will be provided with warm welcome on their arrival in Karachi on 1st December. Such inter-provincial events help promotes national unity among people besides providing great information about old and vintage automobile sector to enthusiasts.

He was talking with the founder president of Vintage & Classic Car Club of Pakistan Mohsin Ikram who called on Mayor Karachi in his office.

City Council’s Sports Committee Chairman Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Sr. Director CSR Saif Abbas and other officers were also present on this occasion.

Mohsin Ikram informing the Mayor about the schedule of the Rally said this event is being organized by Vintage and Classic Car Club of Pakistan. The 8th annual vintage and classic car rally from Khyber to Karachi 2017 started on 24th November from Khyber Rifle Mess Landi Kotal will reach Karachi on 1st December via Islamabad, Lahore, Bahawalpur, Sukkur with cars like Rolls Royce, Cadillac, Ferrari, Porsche, Mustang, Mercedes of old models and is participated by vintage cars enthusiasts from all over the country.

Under the program a big motor show will be held in Karachi on 2nd and 3rd December in which new and old models of cars, bikes, jeeps and other vehicles would present to attract a crowd of about 15000 people to witness the show.

He said The Vintage & Classic Car Club (VCCCP) was formed in 1986 to cater to those who shared their passion of collecting, restoring and driving vintage and classic cars. The main objective of the club is to provide a common platform for classic car enthusiasts in Pakistan for the pursuit of their passion.

The club has organized various motoring & social events for its members. Such events have created awareness and encouraged those who are lucky enough to have an old family vehicle lying in the backyard or in a garage rotting away to get it back on the road.

The club also intends to prove its merits as a group of responsible citizens of this country by helping various organizations through raising funds for them by holding various events like a car rally, road shows and car shows. The club also has plans to hold events with other countries to promote friendship and peace.

Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said  KMC will present its oldest fire tender dating back to 1912 in this motor show and it will establish a museum of old and vintage cars in Karachi with the coordination of corporate sector to showcase the classic cars and other vehicles.
