Mayor Karachi presides general body meeting of KMDC

KARACHI Nov 30 (TNS):  Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said 50 percent concession will be given to all the children of KMC employees on merit basis admission in the Karachi Medical & Dental College whereas wards of KMC employees would on getting admission in the college on self-finance basis be provided with this opportunity to pay their fee in installments according to their convenience.  Strict transparency will be made sure in admission process and no one would have any quota in admissions including Mayor Karachi.

He was chairing the general body meeting of the KMDC on Thursday which was also attended by the MNA Nikhat Shakeel, MPA Jamal Ahmed, Chairman DMC Central Rehan Hashmi, Chairman Finance Committee Nadeem Hidayat Hashmi, former principal Dr. Waqar H. Kazmi, Dr. Farooq Mamji, Professor Abbas Hussain, Azfar Moeed, Nighat Shakeel, Sr. Director Medical Services Dr. Muhammed Ali Abbasi and other officers.

Mayor Karachi urged the governing body members to ensure only on merit admissions in the college and submit their suggestions on the improvement in all faculties of the college.

He said professors and doctors of high caliber and excellent record should be incorporated in the faculty so that education standard of the college could be enhanced further. He said highly educated doctors of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital will be given preference on filling of the vacant posts in the KMDC.

He also directed the governing body to make the academic council in accordance with the bylaws and this council must only look into the academic matters with its meeting held on monthly basis.

The governing body also gave approval of the establishment of two more committees of the governing body for better coordination among the members.

It was informed in the meeting that the annual convocation of the college will be held in January 2018 for which all preparations are being completed rapidly.

Mayor Karachi said we have to maintain the high standard of this college and bring further improvement in it so that students after completing their medical education could serve the people in a better way.
