CM Shabaz inaugurates countries longest passageway ‘Beijing Bridge’ in Lahore

LAHORE, Dec 03 (TNS): Another step towards alleviating traffic woes and provide adequate and latest mode of transportation to the people of urban areas of province, Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday inaugurated the countries longest passageway on the Canal Road.

Previously known as Chubacha Underpass and renamed as Beijing Bridge now to commemorate the contribution of China in Pakistan’s development projects,

The 1.3 km-long mega project, linking Dharampura to Mughalpura, via Mall Road to Harbanspura Road and coming to completion in just 125 days at the cost of Rs. 6.3 billion will provide smooth commuting to millions of people on daily basis.

CM Punjab after inaugurating the mega project with deserved pride also spoke to media and said that with completion of the project the Canal Road from Thokar Niaz Baig to Harnbanspura has become signal free.

He said the biggest project of its kind is a great masterpiece of transparency, quality and architecture that will ensure traffic flow and the precious time of millions of citizens saved.

‘’Modern and standard infrastructure causes to accelerate economic growth” said Shahbaz Sharif and added that his Govt, by spending billions has improved the infrastructure across the province with a whole net of roads, underpasses and flyovers etc.

Furthermore, the picture of pagoda style traditional Chinese building has also been drawn on the underpass walls through tile work to demonstrate Chinese architectural elements.

Earlier in the day, CM Punjab addressed a session through video link. In the session, he spoke regarding the progress of the provincial development projects, including Speedo buses.

He said that after Multan and Lahore, the Speedo bus service will be inaugurated in Lodhran and Bahawalpur.

The CM Punjab said that it was the government’s priority to provide the people of the province adequate and latest mode of transportation.
