Mayor of London pays a visit to Badshahi Masjid

LAHORE, 6 Dec (TNS): Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, accompanied by his Lahore counterpart Col (R) Mubashir, paid a visit to the historical Badshahi Mosque and Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum in Lahore.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan arrived in Pakistan on an official visit on Wednesday as a part of ‘London Is Open’ campaign.

Mr Khan who arrived in India, where he visited Mumbai, Delhi and Amritsar earlier this week entered Pakistan through Wagah Border, where was received by Lahore Mayor.

Penning down his thoughts in the visitor’s book, Sadiq Khan was presented the guard of honor on this occasion.

He is scheduled to spend three days in Pakistan and besides Lahore, he will visit Islamabad and Karachi.

Sadiq Khan is the first London’s mayor to visit both India and Pakistan as he looks to promote closer ties between the two countries and the capitals.

Talking to The News on December 2 Sadiq Khan said that British Pakistanis made London the greatest city in the world. “I want to spread the massage when I go to Pakistan and India,” he added.

The mayor of London and his delegation arrived at the Chief Minister House amid strict security where he was received by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Sharif hosted a luncheon for the guests and discussed issues of mutual interest during the meeting.

Sadiq Khan thanked the host for the warm welcome he received during his first visit to Pakistan.
