Ahsan Iqbal for wide-range cooperation among ECO members for prosperity

ISLAMABAD Dec 11 (TNS): Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal has urged for wide-range cooperation among the ECO member states for economic development and prosperity.

He was addressing the four-day 28th meeting of Regional Planning Council of Economic Cooperation Organization which began in Islamabad on Monday.

The Minister said we will have to focus on human resource development for economic development.

He said the world is facing challenges of terrorism and extremism and law and order is inevitable for development.

Ahsan Iqbal said we will have to ensure conservation of natural resources for our succeeding generations.

Later, talking to media, Ahsan Iqbal said that the present government has defeated power outages and terrorism. He said we have been able to register the highest growth rate and our target for the current fiscal year is six percent. The Minister said Central Asian States are evincing great interest in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects for trade through Gwadar port.

The four-day 28th meeting of Regional Planning Council of Economic Cooperation Organization is underway in Islamabad.

ECO Special Conference on Afghanistan is also planned to be held on the sidelines of the meeting.

The “ECO Day 2017″will also be celebrated on the sidelines of the meeting on Thursday.
