Islamabad, Dec. 11 (TNS): Ishaq Dar’s counsel has submitted a fresh medical report in accountability court which is hearing a corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the former finance minister.

Raising objections on the move, the prosecutor for the anti-graft watchdog argued that all the medical reports submitted by the suspect were incongruent.

The hearing of the case against Dar for amassing assets beyond his known sources of income is underway and the court is likely to declare him a proclaimed offender as pleaded by the top graft buster.

“If you say the reports are fine then we can believe you,” Judge Mohammad Bashir remarked.

“We were waiting for Ishaq Dar’s MRI. He had chest pain due to which more tests need to be done but a heart surgery is not required. NAB hasn’t even endorsed Dar’s report,” said Defence lawyer Advocate Qausain Faisal Mufti.

However, NAB’s special prosecutor Imran Shafiq said that Dar was well aware of the court proceedings, hence, the warrant issued did not have to be sent to London.

Earlier this year while appearing before the accountability court, Dar pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled in the NAB reference filed against him on the orders of the Supreme Court in its July 28 judgment in the Panamagate case.
