Warehouse fire put out after 14 hours firefighting

KARACHI Dec 12 (TNS): A huge fire that broke out in a warehouse on the Super Highway was put out after hectic efforts of fourteen hours, a fireman said on Tuesday.

According to the fire department, the fire erupted in the warehouse located at Janjal Goth off the Super Highway.

Eight fire engines participated in the firefighting operation that spanned fourteen hours.

What caused the fire is yet not clear; a fire brigade official said and added that the warehouse, which was used to store vegetables and used clothes, was partially damaged. However, no loss of life was reported in the incident.

The exact estimates of the damage caused by the fire were not made immediately available.

On December 9, a huge fire had erupted at the Din Textile Mill situated on Multan Road near Pattoki in Punjab, engulfing a nearby warehouse. It was extinguished after 15 hours of hectic firefighting operation.

As many as 15 vehicles of Fire Brigade from Okara, Lahore, and Kasur took part in the firefighting operation. However, the cotton bales worth millions of rupees were burnt to ashes in the blaze.

The rescue officials said that the raging fire was brought under control after prolonged efforts. The fire tenders from nearby cities were also called in to put out the inferno.
