Islamabad, Dec. 13 (TNS): Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger Zinda Hai, the sequel of thriller drama Ek Tha Tiger, has been refused the No-Objection Certificate (NOC).

Central Board of Film Censor (CBFC) Mobasher Hasan said, “Tiger Zinda Hai has been refused the NOC, citing the same reason as the first installment of the franchise: The image of Pakistan and its law enforcement agencies has been compromised.”

Previously, Ek Tha Tiger was banned from screening in Pakistan back in 2012. Muhammed Ashraf Gondal, the vice-chairman of the Central Board of Film Censors said that the Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif-starrer had hit at Pakistan’s security agencies and was problematic for public screening in Pakistan.

“We have strict criteria due to which films that have themes that touch on anti-terrorism and are against Pakistan’s national institutions or security agencies ultimately have to be censored because they are against national interest,” he said about the second Indian film to be banned that year, the first being Saif Ali Khan starrer Agent Vinod.

Ek Tha Tiger has several themes referring to Pakistan’s agencies, which were deemed problematic; thus, leading to the ban of the film,” stated Gondal.
