Islamabad, Dec. 14 (TNS): National Accountability Bureau’s Executive Board Meeting, presided by NAB Chairman retired justice Javed Iqbal, ratified formal approval of 8 inquiries and 2 investigations.

The inquires and investigations included corruption in New Islamabad Airport, Multan Metro Bus project, PIA aircraft sale and others.

The country’s prime anti-corruption watchdog said it will ask Interpol to issue a red warrant against under-trial former finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

“We will have Dar extradited to Pakistan with Interpol’s assistance as he does not have any medical condition that cannot be treated in Pakistan,” stated a press release of NAB, following its executive board meeting at its headquarter in Islamabad.

Dar, who was relieved as finance minister due to ‘health’ reasons, is facing a reference for accumulating assets beyond means.

An accountability court declared Dar, currently in London for ‘medical examination’, a ‘proclaimed offender’ for failing to appear despite repeated summons.

The court also rejected medical reports submitted by Dar’s counsel as an attempt to delay the trial.

On September 27, the accountability court indicted Dar for amassing assets beyond his known sources of income and directed the prosecution to produce witnesses and evidence for establishing its case.

Dar had pleaded not guilty and is currently standing trial in the NAB reference filed against him in line with the Supreme Court’s July 28 judgement in Panama Papers case.
