665 vehicles impounded, Rs.57 lacs tax recovered during 4 Days

KARACHI Dec 16 (TNS): Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Department Sindh launched a four -day Road Checking Campaign from 11th December to 14th December to nab tax defaulting vehicles.

During the campaign more than 13 thousands vehicles were checked and Rs. 57 lacs were recovered in various head of taxes. This was informed to a meeting, chaired by Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla.

Secretary Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Abdul Haleem Shaikh, Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers also attended the meeting. While briefing the meeting DG Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui told that in Karachi 5678 vehicles, in Hyderabad 2353 vehicles, in Sukkur 2122, in Larkana 1148, in Mirpurkhas 1258 and Shaheed Benazirabad 665 vehicles were checked.

During checking documents of as many 1232 vehicles were confiscated while 665 vehicles were impounded. He added during road checking campaign Rs. 3387372 were recovered in term of taxes, Rs. 1945997 in head of withholding tax while Rs. 424477 were recovered as fine. Sindh minister for ET & NC Mukesh Kumar Chawla , while expressing his satisfaction over the performance of the officers and officials during road checking campaign , hoped that they would continue their good performance in future as well.

He directed the officers concerned to launch another drive against tax defaulting vehicles soon and deposit maximum tax into national exchequer. Provincial Minister advised to the owners of the tax defaulting vehicles to deposit due taxes before the next road checking campaign.
