All set for ITU’s first convocation tomorrow

LAHORE Dec 16 (TNS): The Information Technology University (ITU) the Punjab, Pakistan’s first focused Research University established in 2012 is holding its first convocation on Sunday December 17 (tomorrow) at 10 am at Burki Road site of the new campus, for the graduation of its first batch of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science students who were enrolled in the Undergraduate Bachelors programme.

Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana Governor the Punjab and Pro Vice Chancellor will award medals and shields among the students with distinction. A website for ITU Alumni Reconnect has already been launched.

ITU has now 12 academic programs, close to 900 students and 90 research-focused PhD faculty members. ITU houses Pakistan’s largest startup incubator, publishes MIT Technology Review Pakistan and is an academic partner of MIT/Harvard edX.

ITU was recently awarded ‘W’ category by the National Computing Accreditation Council and an endorsement from the Higher Education Commission (HEC), which is the highest ranking a university can achieve with regards to academic and research prowess and is awarded only to those institutions which meet the requirements as proposed by the governing bodies.
