NA condemns Quetta church attack

Islamabad, Dec. 18 (TNS): The National Assembly on Monday observed one minute silence in memory of the victims of Quetta Church attack.

Later, speaking on a point of order the members strongly condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

They lauded services of police and Levies for prompt action against the attackers.

The minority members demanded that arms licenses should be issued to the administration of churches so that they could take security measures on their own.

They also demanded that one hundred million rupees should be given to the minorities for installation of barbed wires around their religious places.

Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, condemning the incident, said Islam and the Constitution of Pakistan guarantee protection of minorities without any discrimination. He said all possible measures are being taken to provide best medical treatment to the injured of the blast.

The National Assembly today (Monday)passed “The Pakistan Power and Infrastructure Board (Amendment) Bill, 2017”.

The bill, moved by Minister of State for Power Abid Sher Ali, provides to amend the Private Power and Infrastructure Board Act, 2012.

The House also passed “The National Skills University Islamabad Bill, 2017.”

The bill was moved by Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Baligh ur Rehman.

It provides for up gradation of the status of National Institutes of Science and Technical Education, Islamabad into National Skills University.

The House will now meet tomorrow(Tuesday) at four in the afternoon.
