PPA delegation meets PM, discusses hurdles in full growth potential

PM directs formation of committee to resolve issues of poultry sector

ISLAMABAD Dec 19 (TNS): A delegation of Pakistan Poultry Association called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday (today) to acquaint him with the issues facing the poultry sector.

Minister for National Food Security Mr. Sikandar Hayat Bosan was also present during the meeting.

The delegation comprised of Chairman PPA Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Dr. Muhammad Sadiq, Mian Jan Muhammad Javed, Mr. Khalid Saleem, Dr. Ashraf Hanif Ch. and Mr. Muhammad Irfan Maken.

Secretary Ministry of National Food Security & Research and senior officers were also present during the meeting.

The delegation apprised the Prime Minister about the contribution of the poultry sector, its increasing growth trajectory and the export potential of the sector especially in the Muslim countries and the Middle East.

The delegation also raised some issues being faced by the sector in realizing its full growth potential and earning foreign exchange for the country.

The Prime Minister directed Secretary Ministry of National Food Security & Research to look into the suggestions, presented by the PPA delegation, for taking measures for promotion of exports of the sector.

The Prime Minister also directed that a committee comprising of FBR, Ministry of NFS&R, Commerce and the representatives of the Poultry Association be constituted to resolve issues related to duties concerning poultry sector.
