Islamabad, Dec. 19 (TNS): Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Bosan has proposed constitution of a committee consisting of all the stakeholders to address the sugarcane issue in the country.
He was concluding discussion on a point of order raised by Leader of the Opposition Khurshid Shah regarding the recent sugarcane issue in the country.
Sikandar Hayat Bosan said the committee headed by the Commerce Minister should comprise representatives of Ministry of Industry and Production, Ministry of Food Security and Research, Ministry of Finance and Provincial representatives.
He said the federal government is ready to provide subsidy on fertilizer to the sugarcane growers but the provinces particularly, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are not willing to pay their due share.
Earlier, the Leader of the Opposition Khurshid Shah said the government should pay due attention to the problems faced by the farmers growing sugarcane and cotton.
