ISLAMABAD, Dec. 20 (TNS): The Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Khurshid Shah said on Tuesday that the state institutions should refrain from confrontation with each other, adding that all institutions should work in their constitutional limits.

Senior PPP leader suggested to hold a joint session of both parliament houses under the current situation. “Don’t adopt the policy of confrontation between government institution,” he advised.

He opined that it is nothing new for an army chief to brief the parliament as General (retd) Raheel Sharif has done the same in his time. Then COAS Sharif had also briefed the parliament, he added. Shah said, “It is the sign of supremacy of the parliament that officials from the armed forces brief lawmakers.”

The Opposition Leader in NA said that he is unaware of what the ex-PM and PML-N president, Nawaz Sharif, considers the movement for justice. He advised against confrontation of the national institutions, saying it will only cause damage to the country.

He reiterated the demand of PPP to hold elections on due time.
