KARACHI Dec 21 (TNS): A 22 members team of Business Administration Department Students Society headed by faculty members Madam Uzma Khan and Syed Arshad Hussain visited Gul Ahmed Textile Mills at Landhi.
This visit was done as a part of Industrial tour program to bridge the gap between Academia and Industry so that students may be well aware with industries environment.
During this visit the students saw practical working of spinning, knitting, cutting, coloring and other sections of the mills. After the visit of various sections of textile mills, Manager, Human Resource, Dilpazeer Zehra briefed the students and teachers about working of Gul Ahmad textile mills.
She said that the Gul Ahmed group began trading in textiles in early 1990s. The group entered in the field of manufacturing with the establishment of today’s iconic name of Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd in the year 1953.
Dilpazeer Zehra said that since its listing of the Karachi Stock Exchange in 1970, the mill has been making rapid progress and enjoying a leading position in the world of textiles.
She said that Gul Ahmed Textile mills is playing a vital role not only as textile giant, but has its strong presence in the retail business as well. She told that the opening its flagship store-Ideas by Gul Ahmed –marked the group‘s entry into the retail business.
Dilpazeer Zehra said that starting from Karachi, Gul Ahmed now has an extensive chain of more than 40 retail stores across the country, offering a diverse range of products from home accessories to fashion clothing. She said more than 50 years since its inception, the name Gul Ahmed is still globally synonymous its quality, innovation & reliability.
