Lahore, Dec. 21 (TNS): Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday vowed to make every sacrifice for sake of democracy.

“[We] are ready to make any sacrifice for democracy,” said the PML-N president after meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and other senior party leaders.

Referring recent verdicts of the top court and accountability courts proceedings, Nawaz further said that accountability in the present situation seemed to be unlikely.

Discussing the upcoming general elections, the former premier said 2018 is the year of elections and PML-N would boost interaction with the public and party workers.

A meeting between former Premier Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi concluded at the former’s Jati Umra residence on Wednesday evening.

According to sources, among the matters to be discussed was the ongoing deadlock over the Federally Administered Tribal Areas’ (FATA) merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s reservations over the proposed reforms.

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other senior Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leaders were part of the meeting.
