RAWALPINDI Dec 26 (TNS): Hours after Pakistan allowed convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s mother and wife to meet him in Islamabad on “humanitarian grounds”, three soldiers were martyred in intense cross-border shelling by Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday.
The shelling occurred at Rukh Chakri sector in Rawalakot, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing. As a result, three soldiers were martyred while one other sustained injuries.
Indian forces resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations along the LoC, prompting a strong response from Pakistani forces, it said.
India has breached the ceasefire on more than 1,000 occasions this year alone which has led to over 50 civilian casualties, whereas around 200 have been injured.
The latest shelling incident occurred hours after India spy Kulbhushan Jadhav met his wife and mother at the Foreign Office in Islamabad.
Indian deputy high commissioner J.P. Singh was also present at the meeting which lasted more than half-an-hour.
The condemned Indian spy met his wife Chetankul Jadhav and mother Avantisudhar Jadhav from behind a thick glass partition that did not allow physical interaction and spoke through an intercom.
The family arrived at Benazir Bhutto International Airport in the capital from Dubai via Emirates flight (EK-612) and was taken to the Foreign Office building, located in the red zone area, amid stringent security measures.
Jadhav confessed before a Magistrate and the Court that he was tasked by RAW to plan, coordinate and organize espionage / sabotage activities aiming to destabilize and wage war against Pakistan by impeding the efforts of Law Enforcement Agencies for restoring peace in Balochistan and Karachi.
The spy was tried by FGCM under section 59 of Pakistan Army Act (PAA) 1952 and Section 3 of official Secret Act of 1923. FGCM found Kulbushan Sudhir Jadhav guilty of all the charges and awarded him death sentence.
On April 10, COAS, Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa confirmed his death sentence awarded by Field General Court Martial (FGCM).
