Govt implementing several power projects in GB: Spokesman

ISLAMABAD, Dec 28 (TNS): The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government is implementing a number of hydro-power projects to overcome its shortage.

A spokesman of Water and Power Department Gilgit Baltistan said three ongoing projects costing 797 million rupees will be completed before June next year.

He said the provision of clean energy to the people of GB for domestic usage would improve the quality of the lives of millions.

Spokesman said hydro energy is environment-friendly, low-cost and economically viable and it can save billions of dollars required to import fuel for power generation that results in costly agricultural and industrial production.
