ISLAMABAD Dec 28 (TNS): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has urged all political forces and state institutions to work in unison in the best interest of country and nation.
In an interview with a private news channel, he reiterated his commitment to let the current government and parliament complete its term on June 1st next year.
The Prime Minister categorically stated that those desiring for early polls would have to come up with a no-confidence vote against him in the National Assembly.
To a question about the possible sit-ins after December, the Prime Minister said issues should be discussed in the parliament because the sit-ins do not provide any solution to problems.
The Prime Minister termed the recent visit of Army Chief to the Senate as “good step”. He said such interactions provide good opportunity for clarity of views.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said he has good working relations with the military leadership, with whom he sits after every two to three weeks in the National Security Committee, where issues are discussed and debated and decisions are taken.
The Prime Minister said the court decision regarding Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification does not put any effect on his political credibility because his role in politics will continue.
He said General Musharraf despite keeping Nawaz Sharif out of country over a decade could not remove him from politics.
