ISLAMABAD Dec 29 (TNS): Imran Khan on Thursday accused his political rivals including the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) of rigging the previous general elections in 2013 in their respective areas.

In a series of tweets on the micro-blogging site, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman said that all three parties selected their own ‘umpires’ before contesting the 2013 elections. He appealed for free and fair elections in 2018.

“In 2013 GE, MQM, PPP & PMLlN had first selected their own umpires (ECP ); then with their collusion the 3 parties rigged the 2013 elections in their respective areas,” he said on Twitter, adding that all the parties got together in order to avoid the investigation of 2013 election rigging.

He discussed that the vote bank of PML-N skyrocketed only due to rigging in 2013, justifying the 2014 sit-ins staged by PTI. Imran Khan tweeted, “We were right in doing the dharna to get an investigation so next elections would be free and fair. Now it must be clear to all how PMLN vote bank went from 6.8 million in 2008 to 15 million in 2013!”
