New Delhi, Jan. 1 (TNS): In a weird way, Indian government on Monday tried to take credit of US President Donald Trump’s scathing criticism on Pakistan.

“We can reasonably argue that Trump administration’s decision today has abundantly vindicated India’s stand as far as terror is concerned and as far as Pakistan’s role in perpetrating terror is concerned,” said Minister of State Jitendra Singh.

Hailing Trump’s remark on Pakistan a victory of India’s diplomatic efforts, BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao took the opportunity to attack India’s opposition party Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

In a tweet, Rao responded to an earlier remark by Rahul in November this year when he had attacked PM Modi for government’s ‘diplomatic failures’.

Earlier in the day, the US president had said that his country has “foolishly” distributed aid to Pakistan even as it continued its support to terrorists.

“The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies and deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!” Trump said in a tweet.
