ISLAMABAD Jan 02 (TNS): The US President Donald Trump has again leveled unfounded allegations against Pakistan ignoring its sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
In his tweet, he accused Pakistan of receiving more than $ 33 billion in aid over the last 15 years without giving anything in return. He once again leveled unsubstantiated and unfound allegations that Pakistan has given safe haven to the terrorists.
Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif briefly responded to President Trump’s tirade against Pakistan saying that it will be responded “soon” to show the world the “difference between facts and fiction.”
In a strong worded reaction to earlier US accusations and allegations the Pakistan Army spokesman, Major General Asif Ghafoor asserted that the aid Pakistan received from the US was “reimbursement for support Islamabad gave to the coalition for its fight against Al Qaeda.”
During a media briefing, he emphasized that had Pakistan not supported the United States and Afghanistan, they would never have been able to defeat Al Qaeda.
The Army spokesperson said the armed forces are working with friends and want to continue doing so, but there can be no compromise on our national honour. DG ISPR said we do not want a conflict with our friends, but will ensure the security of Pakistan.
Hitting back at the US the Foreign Office had also warned against the malicious campaign being used to trivialize Pakistan’s achievements in the war against terrorism. The foreign office said allies do not put each other on notice.
