LAHORE Jan 02 (TNS): Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) — the centre of excellence in healthcare — is of great importance for the treatment of kidney and liver diseases and it will be state-of-the-art institute of the region.
The Punjab government has written a new history by setting up Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute with its own resources and it would bridge the gap between the poor and the rich. Around Rs20 billion were spent for the 100-bed facility.
With the setting up of Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute and Research Center, latest treatment facilities would be available to the patients of kidney and liver under one roof and free treatment facilities would be provided to the poor, deserving and destitute patients.
Pakistan Kidney & Liver Trans-plant Institute would be a masterpiece with regard to medical science, clinical research, medical and public health facilities.
The construction of the hospital is divided into three phases with first 100 beds inaugurated on 25th December 2017. The first phase of the hospital has been made operational where the deserving patients would be treated totally free-of-charge while the rich would have to pay
Every year ceremonies are held, floral-wreaths are laid at the mausoleums of Iqbal and Jinnah, but this year, it is a unique moment that Punjab government has given the gift of a hospital according to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam
PKLI will eventually be a facility with 800 beds (extendable to 1500 beds), a100 bed emergency center, a 100 bed ICU, a 100 beds outpatient dialysis facility, 500-bed in-patient facility, 20 operating rooms & 10 same day surgery suites.
PKLI is situated on a 60-acre plot in the Lahore Knowledge City in between DHA phase 6 and Bedian Road.
Hepatitis filter clinics are attached to it which is treating patients in different districts. In the current year, such filter clinics will be functional in all the districts of the province and the poor patients coming from anywhere in the country will be treated free of cost.
Pakistani doctors working in foreign countries have quit their jobs just to join the PKLI and serve the deserving people.
This institution, which is the largest and most modern in South Asia will provide free treatment facilities to deserving patients of kidney and liver diseases and the patients will also get modern diagnostic and treatment facilities.
Every citizen has equal rights without any discrimination of colour, creed and race, however, 70 years had passed but this dream had not been materialised, it is the passion of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif that this dream was fulfilled.
Serving the ailing humanity is a noble job and he continued to do so. He has always said that it is the duty of every segment of life to play their role in nation-building because Pakistan can be made a great state by following the golden principles of honesty, hard work and trust.
