Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ ranked number one on Chinese IMDB

Beijing, Jan. 4 (TNS): After a record-breaking track in India, the talented Aamir Khan’s Dangal continues to burgeon in China too, Indian media reported on Thursday.

It’s the first film to garner overseas collections at parity with domestic markets and in fact, has been one of the most successful and biggest hits in China.

The movie, reported by Hindustan Times, crossed a INR20 billion mark worldwide in past July. The film also stars Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra and Zaira Wasim.

According to reports the blockbuster-hit flick ranked number one in an annual survey conducted by the IMDB in China.

The Aamir Khan starrer not only witnessed an exceptional theatrical run in India and China, but also did amazingly well in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Taiwan and many other countries.

The movie was released on December 23, 2016. It was directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and is based on the life of Indian wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. The movie revolves around how Phogat trains his daughters Geeta and Babita to become the world-class wrestlers.
