PHC grants bail to outlawed Tahreek-e-Nifaz Shariat Mohammadi Sufi Muhammad

PESHAWAR, Jan 08 (TNS): The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has granted bail to extremist leader Sufi Muhammad, Ameer of outlawed Tahreek-e-Nifaz Shariat Mohammadi (TNSM), for surety of seven hundred thousand rupees on Monday.

A single bench of PHC comprises of Justice Waqar Ahmed hearing the case granted bail on the request of Maulana Sufi Muhammad lawyer.

The counsel of Sufi Muhammad requested the court that Sufi Muhammad was ill for long time and his deteriorating conditions demands to release him on bail, on which court accepting his request granted bail against surety of .70 million rupees.

It is pertinent to mention that FIR against Sufi Muhammad was registered on July 30, 2009 and he was arrested on March 4, 2010.He was arrested in charges of hate speech, speeches against government and other allegations.

The TNSM chief is currently hospitalized due to poor health condition. He remained in jail for 7 years.
