Karachi, Jan. 14 (TNS): The Supreme Court on Sunday said that if the owners of water tankers in Karachi hold a strike, it is the court’s responsibility to deal with the matter.

“If a strike is observed, we know how to deal with them,” the bench of the apex court remarked referring to the water tanker owners. “It is our responsibility.”

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar conducted hearing on the public-interest litigation relating to non-supply of potable drinking water and deteriorating sanitation conditions and its impact on environment, at the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry.

This is the first time that the court is conducting hearing on a Sunday.

The three-judge bench, headed by the CJP, will also include Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.
