Islamabad, Jan. 15 (TNS): In a major breakthrough, the spokesperson of banned terrorist organization Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA), Asad Mansoor, has surrendered to security forces, local media quoting sources reported on Monday.
According to the officials, Mansoor had handed himself to Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) in Dera Ismail Khan, three weeks ago.
The details of his surrender still remained murky but officials said that it was “the result of much hard work”.
Mansoor was commander of the Hakimullah Mehsuf group and belongs Soutth Waziristan,
Last year in April, key commander of JuA Ehsanullah Ehsan also turned himself in to security forces. Earlier the same month, ISPR had announced the surrender of eight JuA militants.
In a subsequent video confession, Ehsan publicly admitted that Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS) and India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) are funding and helping the TTP and its affiliates carry out terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
