Marri announces to abandon militancy

Quetta, Jan. 16 (TNS): In a major development, key Baloch rebel militant commander Nawabzada Gazain Marri on Tuesday announced to abandon militancy and to join mainstream politics.

Marrri said that he is quitting separatist and nationalist politics, adding that he will now join mainstream politics, which he believes “is the only way to serve the people of Balochistan and Pakistan.”

Speaking during a gathering in Golarchi, the Baloch leader said he will first meet his supporters living in various parts of the country before deciding about the future political course.

Gazain Marri hoped that justice would be served to him in the cases filed against him, adding that “these cases are politically motivated”.

Replying to a question regarding the formation new government in Balochistan, he said: “It would not be able to deliver much to the people since it does not have enough time.”
