ISLAMABAD Jan 20 (TNS): President Federation of All Pakistan University Academic Staff Welfare Association (FAPUASA) Dr. Kaleem Ullah Barech called on Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector International Islamic University Islamabad & chairman vice chancellor committee in his office at new campus of the university. Matters pertaining to welfare and facilitation to university teachers were discussed.
Speaking with President FAPUASA Dr. Masoom said that it is commonly perceived that universities are the most powerful weapon in alleviating poverty, elevating economic growth, producing skilled human resource, creating a healthy and enlightened social environment. The university teachers are doing remarkable job in this regard and it’s extremely important to provide all possible facilities and privileges to them.
Dr. Kaleem Ullah said that the retirement age of university teacher should be increased. He argued that when a teacher of the university attain age of 60, stay at peak of his research excellence and leading a strong research group should be continued to furnish better results to the society. Dr. Masoom yasinzai assured his support to the proposal of president FAPAUSA if presented before the decision making body.
Dr. Kaleem Ullah added that the number of universities increased from 50 to 190 during last decade in Pakistan, simultaneously required steps to uplift capacity building of university teachers to deliver more effectively.
