Chairman Senate condemns recent US drone attack in Pakistan

Islamabad, Jan. 25 (TNS): Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani on Thursday strongly condemned the recent US drone attack in Pakistan and described it as an attack on the territorial sovereignty of the country.

During session of Upper House of the Parliament, Rabbani said that Pakistan will not tolerate any violation of its territorial sovereignty.

The Senate was informed that ten billion rupees have been released by the Federal Government for rehabilitation of the Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) of FATA during the last fiscal year.

Answering a question during the questions hour, Minister for States and Frontier Region Abdul Qadir Baloch informed the House that the amount has been transferred to Temporarily Displaced Persons Secretariat for execution of prominent reconstruction projects.

He said a total of fifteen billion rupees were allocated for this purpose during the last year.

Replaying to a question, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said that Pakistan Railways has assembled five locomotives at Pakistan Locomotive Factory at Risalpur during the last five years at a cost of 1760 million rupees.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed informed the House that New Islamabad International Airport will be made operative during the next six months.

He was responding to a calling attention notice moved by Saleem Mandviwalla and others regarding the delay in the opening of the airport.

Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said work on the metro bus project and two roads are also underway for access to the airport and these projects will be completed very soon.
